September 29 Mr Warne.....Shaney is at it again!! (see link if u hover over the words)
Can u believe someone could STILL be sending texts to the wrong person!
God that guy creeps me out! September 28 My beautiful sisters!I have just been reading back on Peta and Casey's blogs. I didnt realise that Casey had replied to most of the comments on her blog and so spent 50mins going back and reading them all.
Two posts I wanna share with you..
Firstly, my very funny idiot Bridget Jones sister, Peta. She posted a comment on Casey's blog in July that went like this.... ...... I'm reading a book about you, except the girl in it moved to France, not Germany... and she's a journo, not a ballerina... and he's a lawyer, not a 'hospitality' dude...
Ok, so there's a book about a character that is Casey, but she's not in Germany, she's not a dancer, he's not a hospitality dude... What DO they have in common Peet???
Secondly post was my baby sisters post from today. I cried and cried and cried when I read it. She was very lucky to score 2 free tix to Riverdance last night. It's playing in Mannheim and 2 cast members came up to her when she was working for the gym the other day and asked her if she spoke english and how much for casual gym membership. Of course she explained to them she was an ex Irish dancer and then she joked about 'don't suppose you can get me tix' AND THEY DID!
So, she took her MIL last night to see it and this is what she wrote..... i cried and cried and cried!
first of all i was a little edgy when it started it the music and the hard shoes bought the memories (litterally) flooding back and then.....
and then......
AND THEN....
That gorgeous song 'Hearts Cry' came on and it reminded me of being down in the shed and trying to sing it and of sitting in Jus' room out the back listening to the CD with her..i was a mess!
SO i thought, ok good thats over now i can settle down and and just get hyper (which i did, i had LOTS of trouble sitting still) then the second song came on...can't remember what its called but it goes......
and so on, well i started getting teary again but fought it´, got through the rest of the 1st half, was happy, then 2nd half came on right at the beging there was a bloody song don't know what this is called either but goes
and so on......then as i was listening, it all clicked into place....it was about leaving home! The part where the celts go abroad there was stuff about children leaving then thier children coming back and OH MY GOD it started again. I cried and cried and cried and couldn't wait for the song to be finished cause i was SO worried about my make-up i don't own water proof mascarra or eyeliner (something i should invest in, but never do)
The thing is I remember crying and crying about the very same song when I was over in Scotland living. Because I was so happy to be there, doing what I dreamed about, but my whole family were at home. I even had a Riverdance tshirt with a few lines from that song on it.
Here are the lyrics to that beautiful song, and here is a picture of my sisters and me singing our little hearts out at my Mums Group Karaoke night, 18months ago, the last time I saw my baby sister....
How can the small flowers grow,
If the wild winds blow, And the cold snow is all around? Where will the frail birds fly, If their homes on high, Have been torn down to the ground? Lift the wings, That carry me away from here and, Fill the sail, That breaks the line to home. But when I'm miles and miles apart from you, I'm beside you, when I think of you, a Stóirín, a Grá. How can a tree stand tall, If the rain won't fall, To wash its branches down? How can a heart survive, Can it stay alive, If its love's denied for long? Lift the wings, That carry me away from here and, Fill the sail, That breaks the line to home. But when I'm miles and miles apart from you, I'm beside you, when I think of you, a Stóirín, And I'm with you as I dream of you, a Stóirín, And a song will bring you near to me, a Stóirín, a Grá. ![]() ![]() ![]() September 27 Bratz Girls Here is a blury photo of the Bratz Girls the other day!
![]() (Still haven't heard back from Hoyts) September 26 Who Is Jack???????WHO IS JACK SCHITT ? For some time many of us have wondered just who is Jack Schitt? We find ourselves at a loss when someone says, 'You don't know Jack Schitt!' Well, thanks to my genealogy efforts, you can now respond in an intellectual way. Jack Schitt is the only son of Awe Schitt. AweSchitt, the fertilizer magnate, married O. Schitt, the owner of Needeep N. Schitt, Inc. They had one son, Jack. In turn, Jack Schitt married Noe Schitt. The deeply religious couple produced six children: Holie Schitt, Giva Schitt, Fulla Schitt, Bull Schitt, and the twins Deep Schitt and Dip Schitt. Against her parents' objections, Deep Schitt married Dumb Schitt, a high school dropout. After being married 15 years, Jack and Noe Schitt divorced. Noe Schitt later married Ted Sherlock, and because her kids were living with them, she wanted to keep her previous name. She was then known as Noe Schitt Sherlock. Meanwhile, Dip Schitt married Loda Schitt, and they produced a son with a rather nervous disposition named Chicken Schitt. Two of the other six children, Fulla Schitt and Giva Schitt, were inseparable throughout childhood and subsequently married the Happens brothers in a dual ceremony. The wedding announcement in the newspaper announced the Schitt-Happens nuptials. The Schitt-Happens children were Dawg, Byrd, and Horse. Bull Schitt, the prodigal son, left home to tour the world. He recently returned from Italy with his new Italian bride, Pisa Schitt. Now when someone says, 'You don't know Jack Schitt,' you can correct them! September 25 My sisters famous bum!TAKEN FROM PETA'S BLOG TODAY......
When I was coming back from lunch, Alan Jones was walking out of the court with a camera shoved in his face. I walked past... so my bum may be famous! Channel Seven's line will run hot because all the talent scouts in the Sydney area will be wanting to know whose fabulous bum that was walking past Alan Jones... But alas, they shan't know... *sigh*... another fortune lost before it was even made!!! September 24 1 week to go! Then 2 weeks holidays - yeehah! Can't wait!
I was thinking that the kids would have eisteddfods during the holidays, but it looks like the eisteddfods are the weekends (on dancing day, so have to decide what to do about that). Although Connor does have one on next Wednesday at Woolaware.
Might take the kids away in the 2nd week of the hols, for a few days. Maybe back down to Easts Beach. Hmmm will have a think on it! September 23 Save Our Libraries! To protest against funding cuts to public libraries: http://www.petitiononline.com/chronlib/petition.html September 22 Connor and Mummy Morning TripThe other day I had to go to a judges meeting. I took Connor with me. We went to the park next to the hall and had our macca's and a play for 40mins before the meeting.

Connor is an elf in his ballet - BUT HE's NOT! ON NO ACCOUNT CALL HIM AN ELF! CALL HIM A GOBLIN PLEASE!!! Dont know what the costume is for his other dances, dont even know what his other dances are! Ceilidh is doing Funky Town for Tap and that Vanessa Amarossi song for Jazz 'mother mary mother mary' September 19 Boy is STILL sickHad him back at the docs today. Last night his temp stayed up all night. On way to dr I noticed rash on his legs - my heart stopped!!!!!!!!!
Thankfully, NOT meningicocal (as I wouldnt be sitting here otherwise!). She did a very thorough check, we were in there 40mins. Not appendicitis, not measles, lots of NOTs - but not sure what it is! Tonsils very inflamed still. She thinks its a virus and the rash just a viral rash.
Has changed the antibiotics and if he's still bad tomorrow she wants me to take hiim to the hospital. He has perked up this arvo, I went and bought some more nurofen, I ran out of that on Sunday and he just had panadol/painstop yesterday and Monday night. The nurofen has worked a treat and hopefully we will notice a difference with the antibiotics by morning. She asked me if I can give him 4 doses a day. I said I dont care how many times i have to get up during hte night if it will make him better. So by the morning he will have had 3 doses of the new one... fingers crossed its good news from there! September 18 Bratz Day Out!![]() On Sunday I took Ceilidh, Darcy and 2 of their friends to the movies at Eastgardens to watch Bratz. It was a special 'girls day out advance screening' and as well as the movie each girl got a goodie bag.
The movie was really good. G Rated - Not sluttish in anyway. A few 'whateva' kind of comments, but not even major boyfriend stuff. I was very impressed. Good themes about friendship and some great singing and dancing. At the end of the movie the girls were very excited to receive their goodie bags. As they received them I noticed a magazine in it so took the bag from Dee to see what the magazine was.
I was HORRIFIED to see that it was Dolly Magazine. I quickly removed them from the girls showbags and told them I would give them to their mothers as they had 'teenage stuff' in them'. The other stuff in the bag was great; some girly shampoo, a pkt of nesquick, a cd single, a mascara, a postcard and door hanger from the movie and an AMF bowling game.
Well, I dropped Ceilidh's little friend off and gave her mum the mag, she said 'thankyou' and as we're standing there talking she flicked it open - to a page that had questions about anal sex, oral sex, hand jobs, taking drugs - And there was another bit that had a sealed section!! OMG - these were given to patrons at a G RATED MOVIE!! And the average age of the girls at the movie would have been 10!!!!
I am disgusted and Ive just fired off a letter to Hoyts. Told them it was criminal to have that magazine in the bags. Will be interesting to see if I get a response...... September 17 TonsilitisConnor has tonsilitis again. Its only the 2nd time for this year, and Mark took him down to the medical centre last night. Couldn't take him to Cecil Hills as it was closed. The Dr wants to see him again today, and told Mark to wake him at midnight to give him another dose of the antibiotics.
So today he is prancing around telling Ceilidh it's time to go to school, whilst he is still blamanging in his pjs!
Mark is taking a FACS day so he can take him back to the docs. If I take a Monday off I dont get paid. I would like Mark to take him up to Cecil HIlls, just so it's documented that he's had another attack. Or I will ask him to get the dr to write it on letterhead so we can put it away and take it next time we're up there.
He gets worse at nighttime, so it will fun whilst Im teaching tonight! September 16 School ConcertLast Tuesday and Wednesday was the school concert at MRPS. The kids were on separate nights. Connor's class did the Rollercoaster song from Lilo and Stitch. Ceilidh's class did signing choir 'Welcome to All People'
Both were very cute! ![]() ![]() ![]() September 15 A CZECH speedway driver knocked unconscious in a crash stunned ambulance drivers when he woke up speaking perfect English. This is a true story in (13/9/07) Daily Telegraph Online... talk about FREAKY! 18-year-old Matej Kus was out cold for 45 minutes after the crash, but when he woke up he conversed fluidly in English with paramedics, even speaking in an English accent. The teenager had just begun to study the language and his skills were described by friends and team-mates as “basic at best”. Peter Waite, the promoter for Kus's team, the Berwick Bandits, told the Daily Mail: "I couldn't believe what I was hearing. "It was in a really clear English accent, no dialect or anything. Whatever happened in the crash must have rearranged things in his head. "Before his crash Matej's use of the English language was broken, to put it mildly. "He was only just making a start on improving it and struggled to be understood, but was keen to learn. "Yet here we were at the ambulance door listening to Matej talking to the medical staff in perfect English. "Matej didn't have a clue who or where he was when he came round. He didn't even know he was Czech. "It was unbelievable to hear him talk in unbroken English." Unfortunately, the speedway drivers new found skills didn’t last and he remembers nothing of the accident or the following two days. He is now keen pursue studies in English. He told the Daily Mail, through an interpreter: "It's unbelievable that I was speaking English like that, especially without an accent. "Hopefully I can pick English up over the winter for the start of next season so I'll be able to speak it without someone having to hit me over the head first. "There must be plenty of the English language in my subconscious so hopefully I'll be able to pick it up quickly next time." September 14 Linnwood House![]() ![]() ![]() THis is an annual dance out at Linnwood House that we do. It was a lovely day. Darcy did her pdbs there too! OMG!!
Here is a little bit of info about Linnwood House, it's very interesting!
George McCredie was born in Sydney in 1859 the 2nd son of a family of 10 children to Thomas & Jessie McCredie. After attending Fort St. Model Public School, he studied engineering by night while serving his apprenticeship with the Australasian Steam Navigation Company at their Pyrmont Shipyards. By the time he was 21 George had entered into a partnership with his brother Arthur McCredie who was an architect. Soon after, George married Susan Faulds Blackwood, daughter of the engineering supplies company family, James Blackwood & Son. Some examples of the buildings George and Arthur were involved with are "Montana" in Glebe, the Burns Philp Building in Bridge St. Sydney and the Mark Foys Building. The firm was also responsible for the construction of the underground telephone cable tunnels in the Sydney CBD- still in use today. In 1889, George and Susan purchased part of the Orchardleigh Estate at Guildford and set about designing and building a residence for their family. The house, named "Linnwood" was completed in April, 1891. George and Susan were to have 9 children altogether, but unfortunately, the eldest son, James, was to die at the age of 13 in 1895. George entered into local politics, being elected to the Council of Prospect and Sherwood (now Holroyd) in March of 1891. In 1892 he was elected as Mayor, a position he held for 3 terms. In 1894, George stood for election in the NSW Legislative Assembly and won the seat of Central Cumberland as an independent free trader and an advocate of female suffrage. He lost his seat the following year and returned to work, but in 1900, the State Government called upon him to help clean up the City of Sydney when there was an outbreak of the Bubonic Plague. In gratitude for his work, the people of Sydney presented George with a shield that is now held in the Powerhouse Museum. Unfortunately, in 1903, whilst on holiday with his family, George became ill and died of gastritis- and it is believed that this illness was a result of the work he had done in the plague conditions. His funeral was a huge event in the area, many people walking behind the hearse from 'Linnwood' to Rookwood Cemetery as a mark of respect for this well loved and respected man of the community. George McCredie was only 43 when he died and left a wife and 8 young children. The house "Linnwood" was an innovation for its time- generating its own electricity and having the first telephone in the district. A newspaper article of the 1890's describes 'Linnwood' as "being one of the most perfectly finished domestic establishments in the Southern Hemisphere- a home that is just a dream of every convenience and comfort". A summerhouse and a small hall were erected on the site and the first Presbyterian Church Services in the area were held on the property. Services continued there until a new church was built after George's death on Guildford Road and named in honour of George McCredie. After George's death Susan and her children remained at 'Linnwood' until 1917 when the property was advertised for lease. The Education Dept. then leased 11 acres of the property to use as a Boys Truant School. The lease included a clause that the dept. could purchase the property during the currency of the lease. This they did in 1921 for the sum of 5 thousand pounds. The Dept. purchased the remaining acre of land in 1930. Linnwood was now known as the Guildford Truant School for Boys. 1n 1923, approval was given to build new dormitories and extra outbuildings including a laundry and shower block.Around 1930 the number of boys being sent to the school was dwindling and by 1936 conversion from a Truant School to a residential girls school for State Wards aged 14yrs and up was completed. Linnwood continued to be used in this way for the next few decades and by 1966 was seen as a Special Training School for Home Science for girls from deprived backgrounds. It was not strictly an orphanage, but used for girls who, for various reasons, could not live in their own homes. The girls were taught housekeeping, cooking and needlework as well as being schooled on site in Linnwood's own schoolroom With changes in the welfare system, homes like Linnwood gradually became superfluous to the Dept. and by 1999 all homes on the estate were virtually empty. The Friends of Linnwood formed to help 'preserve and protect' Linnwood and it is our aim to help the Heritage Office with much needed restoration works on the house. Membership to the 'Friends' is open to anyone with an interest in helping to preserve this important part of our history and only costs $5 per year ordinary membership and $2 concession.
