    Good week....

Wonder if it will last!! On Wednesday I got a text from Miss R. Telling me that Connors attitude & behaviour on Saturday & Tuesday night was so good & she was really excited & had to let me know. Then today he came home from school with an assembly award for " improved listening" then he said ' oh, I have a note from Miss for you" and it was a hand written note from Miss Griffin that said " Hi Justine, I just wanted to let you know how great Connors listening & behaviour had been this week. And he has completed all of his work in class!" Well, what a pleasant surprise on both counts... My concern of course is how long will it last?? But I'm grateful it has shown itself at all! Now to have it cross over to his highland classes too....

    The Children's Response....

When I told the kids about Germany they were  very excited but their initial responses were very funny...

Ceilidh - Her first sentence after I told her was "But do we miss out on Awards Night?" OMG -YES - BUT YOU'RE GOING TO GERMANY!!!

Connor - " So we get to have breakfast lunch AND dinner on the plane!"

Darcy - (crying) "But I don't want to go to China first!"

    Grease is the word!!

In the holidays Wests Club had a Mini Grease show.

The kids loved it, but I think that Mandy, Deb, Tina and I had a better time than them - we were singing away having a blast!!

CJ, COn and Dee got dressed up for it...

NOW, I DONT KNOW WHY I CAN'T ROTATE THESE PHOTOS - NEVER HAD THAT PROBLEM BEFORE!

    Reel Men DO Dance!

Friday night saw the children and I heading for Gosford, for our third live show in 3 days! (Wicked Wednesday, Grease is the Word THursday and Down Under The Kilt Friday!)

Douglas McFarland had his show which consisted of an all male cast of champion highland dancers from around the world.

    It was GREAT!

    The kids loved it!

Connor loved meeting the boys at the end of it, and he also had a great time with Aidan Ryan, who was there with his family too.

Here are some shots of Connor and Aidan with the boys. We had Tony Cargill, 4 time World Champion. 3 Canadian Champions, one American Champion and 2 Australasian Champions!
    Awesome!

Back in to the swing of things!

Today it was 'early to rise' (but not as early as Deb gets up - OH MY!) to head back to our Saturday dancing. It was a bit hard for all of us to get up as we had a very very VERY late night from watching Dougie's show "Reel Men Do Dance." We didn't get home from Gosford until 1am - and the kids didnt sleep at all on the way home.

I was worried Con wouldn't be awake enough for his private - but he seemed idiotic enough (I have a video filmed by LMB to prove it!) Shall try to copy onto here later!

Dee was grumpy all day - but still had fun dancing.

CJ was contrary - but hey - that's not necessarily because she was tired.

I was snappy - but hey - that's not necessarily because I was tired! lol!

The kids all wore their wicked shirts and we gave Miss Rebecca her birthday card (it was her birthday yesterday). We were excited at the newsagent as they had puppy dog scratch lottery tickets - so we hope she wins a million $$ (and shares it with us! haha)

I've just gotten home after being down at Mum and Dads to feed the birds (all alive dad) and the fish (still swimming) and saying hello to Mary and the Dogs. Had a good chat to Mam, which was nice.

Now have taken in the washing, hung a load out and put another load on.

Gotta get CJ's aboyne and kilt ready for tomorrow - Gosford.

Gotta feed the kids - I think left over pizza from Thursday is the plan!

I'm working MOnday (gotta drop the kids at Leannes at 8am - sorry about that Leanne - so much for your last day of the hols sleep in!)

    4.50am - Leave home

    5. 10am - Arrive Airport

6am - Fly to Melbourne. Dee stopped me as we got on the plane and I had to ask the air hostess to tell the pilot to make the plane go slow!! She said she would!!

7.30 - Arrived Melbourne, picked up hire car (only $50 for car - and $100 for return Shuttle bus!)

11.30 - DId tourist Tram circuit for 50mins.

12.30 - Walked up to the Regent Theatre, picked up tix - not a drama, got booster seats, checked coats, made our way to our Row K seats

    1pm - MAGIC BEGINS!

NO WORDS - NO WORDS ARE ENOUGH FOR HOW WONDEFUL THE SHOW WAS!!!!!!!!! OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG!!

I did not hear a PEEP out of the children for the entire time it was on. There were shit head children behind us, asking for chips and drinks and talking through it - but not mine. Nope - their eyes were GLUED to the stage. Their lips moving in sync. The only words Dee did say to me were things like 'this is where they become friends' or 'oh mummy, this is my song and dance!' (hahah!) Con got sleepy (as he always does in theatre shows with the lights turned down, but he'd pop back up when it was a bit he recognised well! CJ's face was just magical throughout. Mine - I couldn't wipe the smile off, or stop the tears flowing!!

And - best of all - IT HAS A HAPPY ENDING!!!!

No more spoilers than that, cause I want you all to enjoy it - but WOW! SO many surprises! So much different, yet the same from the book - and SO MANY funny little links to The Wizard  of Oz!!

(and yes - yet again, not many photos of the 10 year old, who runs away from the camera if she's in a mood *sigh*)

    Penriff and Gong

I dont think I posted the results of Penrith Eisteddfod.....

THe kids did wonderfully! Amazingly wonderfully. They danced fabulously and Connor WON his jazz, 2nd in his tap. Dee got 2nd in her jazz. And I got the most BEAUTIFUL photos of them from the professional photographer who was there taking action shots! OMG!

Then yesterday Dee had her Gong babies section. She and her two friends were gorgeous. 24 in the section. Elle got 2nd! WOW! Dee and Nala got HC (all the others did! LOL)

But the funny thing was that they started Dee's music too soon. she was running on to the stage, getting in to position. She stopped where she was. Turned around and told the lady in the wings, "NO! I'm not ready yet, start it again!"

    SO THEY DID!!!

    Hahahah

    It was soooo funny!

    July 19

    On Wednesday

we are going to Melbourne for the day...

    I did it!!

I booked the ridiculously cheap air fares and the incredibly cheap tickets for Wicked.

I got a bonus back from Tax and decided - bugger it, I'm doing it. Others go to the snow, others pay for Novotel accomodation. I will spend it on a special day.

Just told the kids. They cant believe it (cepting for Darcy - who is crying because planes go fast!! lol)

    OMG!

    Excited - MUCH
    July 18

The Harry V's Dark Lord Rap!

    July 17

    Jaaaacket!!

These photos are of Con and his amazing teacher. Miss Bec.

They are taken after his tap and the reason for the look on Bec's face is because Connor almost went on stage with his BRIGHT RED RGDANCE jacket ON!!!!!!!!!!!! Arghh!!

I had to call out, when he was just coming out of the wings 'jacket'. I felt SO bad for doing it. Because it was so uncouth. But I couldn't have him dance with it on!!!

He took it off - thankfully, and danced well and gained second place! LOL!

(yesterday he did his jazz at the Gong and got Highly Commended)  HIs feet are beautiful> just need his top half to match it!

Today we have Penrith Eisteddfod for both the little ones (and Kaiesha)

If I am feeling better we will go to the museum of fire afterwards.

    July 16

    siiiiiiiiiiiick

Too sick to blog. Can't sit at computer table for long.

Am checking the 400 emails that have come since I went to Wollongong! OMG! There are some important ones amongst the shit.

    July 13

She DID dance like no one was watching!!!!!

OH, I couldn't sleep last night. I was so scared for Ceilidh. I was nervous for Boyo too. But CJ, I KNEW she could dance well - if she believed in herself, and didn't get overwhelmed by the whole situation.

Well, we arrived and Con's section was first - for his slow tap. He went to go on with his bloody RED RG jacket on - I had to call out "JACKET'' from seats - I wasn't happy to do it - but WHAT COULD I DO?? He danced well, not great but pretty good. And he got 2nd - to another RG kid, Charlotte - how danced awesomly! So that was great!

Then it was CJ. she was very very nervous, so I sent her out early so I she could be by herself. Some of her friends from RG made a special effort to come in and watch her, which was just beautiful!!

The music played up for the section. Not just our music  - the CD player was being contrary. But it finally worked and OMG - she danced so well!! The dance itself COULD have been better, but from what I was worried she would do - which was head down and no smile -well there was NONE of taht! She smiled and it was smiling with her eyes. The judge actually wrote on the report - LOVELY SMILE!!!!!!! She got Highly Commended!!!!!!!

She was/is so excited!!! So were all her RG friends. she is proudly displaying her ribbon on her tracksuit!!

IN the arvo Con had his highland solo. (National Character section) This time our cd DID play up. It was a stupid CD player which just has a hole to slot the cd in to. Well, I had put special cd labels on the cds - in colour - through the printer. and Cons got jammed!!! SO he stood there and stood there, then the man put on the backup one -b ut didnt see there were 5 songs on there - andnumber one is Darcy's solo - so PInk Cadillac started up!!! The crowd burst into laughter and Cons eyes nearly poppped out of his head but HE STILL STOOD THERE!!

Finally the music started (used another cd player) and he danced, well. Again, not technically as well as he can, but very well all things considered. Half the audittorioum was RG!! They all came in to watch him! It was sooooo cute!!!. He didnt get anything, and he wasn't too upset! The stupid comment on the report told him to try and look up whislt dancing - HE WAS OVER SWORDS!!! LOL! The section was 8&u, so he will be in the same section next year - and look much bigger! LOL! He looked like a midget!!
So all in all a fantastic wonderful day!!!!! LOVED IT!! SO VERY VERY VERY PROUD!! Especially of my Ceilidh-Girl!!!

    July 11

    That's not a painting - THIS is a painting!!

On Mother's Day, in May. We went to the Art Gallery of NSW.

The children had a lovely time. They have never been before, and I haven't been for many many years.

They took their sketch books and had a play copying some pictures. One day, when I have the time and inclination, I will scan them and post them on here. Maybe in these holidays I will have time??? Maybe not!!

Anyway, we all thought this painting below was amazing. And what we COULDN'T believe was the size of it! Look at the children at the bottom - you can only just see Dee's head!!
