    Alley cat

    Just for Lorraine...

I wish there was a dark and sinister reason at to why i was in the alley at the Lyric Theatre. I wish I could say I had a assignation with Mr Darcy or Mr Crawford or Mr Jackman - or even Craig McLachlan! LOL

Unfortunately I was just parking the car and walking up the back steps of the theatre. Not alot of people know about that entrance, of course - I do - cause it has the closest street parking!!

Sorry for the boring story!!! :P

The tale of the Red Shoes....(more popularily known as 'Jazz Shoe Debacle!')

Once upon a time there was a little girl named Missy Dee who loved to dance.

She danced morning, noon and night, she danced in the car, in the field and in her bedroom. She danced and danced and danced - which is why her mother enrolled her in lessons, so that she could learn to dance properly.

At lessons Missy Dee was the littliest in her group. All of her dancing friends also loved to dance  and due to this fact they were entered in a dance competition.

However, this was no ordinary dance competition. In the dance they were performing for this eisteddfod Missy Dee and her friends had to wear red shoes.

AND THAT'S WHERE THE DRAMA'S BEGAN.....

Missy Dee had the littliest foot in the dancing group, as she was only 4 years of age (and most of the others were 6). When first the subject of red shoes came up, Miss Dee's mother was not concerned.

"Of course, I can find a pair for my daughter, if everyone has to wear the bootie style, not a problem, Miss Dee will too."

Unbeknownst to Missy Dee's mother, the bootie style of shoe is a rare one indeed. This is not a shoe to be found just anywhere. Many bootmakers will not tackle the bootie style in an infants fit, and the one sole bootmaker who does - well, their suppliers do not like to carry many of the tiny sizes as they do not sell well.

Many people were also searching far and wide for the elusive jazz bootie. Many false alarms were had, and much money was spent on inadequate stock and still no red shoes were available for Miss Dee.

After a long and fruitless seach Missy Dee's mother at last tracked down a pair of tan shoes to fit her daughter. They were to be sent from far far away, by land and air, to reach her - in time for the mother to paint them in the red colour needed for the special dance.

Three days before the Special Day and at last, the shoes arrived. Missy Dee's mother opened the packaging and fell to the floor in horror - THEY HAD SENT BLACK SHOES...............

    What was she to do??????????????

Time had run out, there was no chance to have those special shoes re-sent and then painted and decorated.

At her wits end Miss Dee's mother cried of her sorrow to her online friends.

And amazingly - her prayers were answered....

One of Missy Dee's little friends no longer fitted in her tiny red shoes. Her mother had to buy her a new pair. The tiny shoes were passed on to Miss Dee, and although there is 'growing room' they look marvellous and are held up as icons and prayed to!

Missy Dee's mother spent a morning carefully be-dazzelling the said red shoes and on Saturday, when Missy Dee clicks her heels 3 times her dreams will surely come true!!!

    This about sums it up!

I read this comment on a friends website and boy oh boy can I relate.

So, I decided to put it up here. To remind myself...

"I always tell myself -- in a year, in a year it will look different -- I can never bring myself to say 'better' -- but different at the very least, and different is what we need sometimes -- just to have it shift..."

    My cabbage head!!

Often I will call Ceilidh 'Ceil'. When she was just a wee slip of a thing a friend of mine, who is a chef said that 'Ceil' was a type of cabbage. I had never heard of that - and I laughed and called Ceilidh 'cabbage head!'

Then, about a year ago, when reading my Dunnett books again I noticed in Checkmate that  something was said about 'eating your kail' and I realised that it was the kail that Marianne had spoken about!!

So last night I went to visit some friends blogs over on blogger. And I was bored so I clicked the 'next blog' button. Now I never do this - but having nothing better to do - I did.

    And look what came up!!!

    shoe drama!

Oh man has today been one huge SHOE drama!!

The troupe Dee is in on Saturday is having red jazz shoes. So we had to have tan jazz shoes to be able to paint them red.

Problem being that they had to be elastic side tan jazz shoes.

Problem being that many stores DONT MAKE elastic side tan jazz shoes for tiny sizes.

I had finally 'found' a place on ebay that said they had her size. Measured her all up. Sent it away and bought a pair.

They arrived today - TOO BIG - by about 3 sizes!!

Ok - so I can send back - HOWEVER - shoes supposed to had by tomorrow so that they can be painted and blinged.

Rang local shop - $60 - but they dont have her size anyway.

Finally I rang Paul Wright in Queensland...

    YES they have them

    YES they do little sizes

YES I can get my teacher discount

YES they will post them TODAY and we should get them tomorrow!!!

    PHEW!!!

So, have asked Mother can she please go to dancing via my front doorstep tomorrow so that if the shoes have arrived she can take them and we can try them on Dee when she and I arrive after work and preschool.

What a drama for a 3 min dance!!

    Darcy's Report

Just thought I'd write what Darcy's dancing report said. Not that it means much, a crit sheet is not really a crit sheet with this judge. But anyway...
St George Eisteddfod - Sandra Haddow adjudicating.
"Cute outfit. Routine was well arranged. Technique is developing but take care in your timing in places. Good use of body. Sweet personality. Good Girl!" 75Marks.

    PROCRASTINATION!
    May 13

Did not wish to snot all over the children

so I didn't go to work today.

However, all the kids are at school/preschool so I am going to make the most of it and try and get Darcy's room sorted.

It is still a huge mountain of clothes that you need rigging and a crash helmet on to negotiate the room.

The last 2 days she has come out wearing trousers that are up to her ankles. I hadn't realised she had shot up - but she obviously has.

So I'm off to do the PURGE on her room. (shall just snot all over the clothes instead!)

I'm proud that it's only 9.58 and already I've got a load of washing on, done the dishes, put a load on the line (clothes not dishes), answered correspondence and semi-tided my desk. And the kids have only been gone an hour.

Alas it will not last. I shall, once Ive done the room, no doubt collapse on the lounge and feign exhaustion.

I was supposed to have an oesteopath appointment today - but didn't want to sneeze and snot over her - so cancelled it. (much to my creaking neck's displeasure)

I was also supposed to go to Spotlight/Lincraft today and get craft glue and pink dye. Neither of those will be done. But I do have to go to Mums and give her the package that arrived yesterday - with the BLING  in it!!! For Darcy's costume!

Ok - enough procrastinating... off to do room

Oh - Got Darcy's preschool photos yesterday - BEAUTIFUL!!! Must scan and post!
