Build-a-bear workshop and nice Sunday outing

CJ had a birthday party at Castle Hill today. She got to make a bear -well she actually made a bunny! And she named it Allira (her bestie) and Allira named hers Ceilidh!! How cute!!

Whilst she was in there a friend met us and took Connor away to play with her son down in the play centre downstairs.

So that left Darcy,Mark and I to wander. (we were waiting for someone to come up and collect Dee but alas it never happened!)

I went and found the TS shop (nice clothing for 'big' people!) and saw some GORGEOUS 'travellers pants' Mark liked them, I liked them, I looked at the price - $109!! Didnt like them quite as much after that!!

Someone commented about how they liked my shoes! I was wearing some Diana Ferrari thongs that I bought last week at Winston Hills with mum and dads birthday money. They were on special so I actually bought two pairs of shoes!  I was chuffed someone noticed! Not so chuffed that they saw the state of my scaly feet in them! LOL!

I bought an oshkosh cossie for CJ and Con to put away for xmas.

We had lunch all together in the food court and headed home.

Mark is gonna take the two older ones over to his mums later this arvo and Im going to TRY and finish my programmes -which are due Tuesday. I really am not in the mood but it's my last chance to do them. Damn it Janet.

    4ORCE!

Last night Peta and I went to a show called 'Boy Band'. It was great! All about the boy bands of the 90's and the products that they were, and the choreography, styles etc.

This one was called 4orce. And every time the number 4 was used they'd use 4orce instead. Which was funny! The songs were so rude and funny! Hard to explain here. Lots of gays in the audience (in fact, when we first arrived and I ducked off to the loo, I came back to Peta standing there looking wide eyed - which isnt hard her eyes are enormous! And saying 'i think this is a gay show!). It wasn't it just had alot of apeal to gay men. In fact there were some jokes that we didnt get, but were obviously funny cause the row in front of us were all laughing!!

Had  a lovely (and cheap!) dinner at Mamma's Kitchen at Broadway first, then walked around the almost closed Broadway Centre (and Peta bought the kids birthday presents) before walking back up to the Seymour Centre.

Tonight we are off to a ceilidh which is being held as a fundraiser for C of C.

Oh - I know what I wanted to say, how come on days that it doesn't matter, CJ can get up and be in a happy mood without any assistance. And yet on school days, she's impossible to wake up and is always in a bad mood! *sigh*

The Name On Everybody's Lips Is Gonna Be.......

    CASEY!!!!!!!

    WEll, maybe! LOL!

At about 10 pm last night I  got a text from Case. This is what it said.....

"Oh my god, Ive made it through 2 rounds! People were cut out both times and now they want me to sing!! Holy sh*&!!"

She is at the Phantom audition!!

She is singing 'Roxy' from Chicago. She is doing it unaccompained as a) she doesn't have a singing teacher to practise with and b) seh wouldnt know where to get the sheet music anyway!

Then at 2am I received this one.....

"Hi, Im out. End of March, beginning of April - don't call us, we'll call you.(but they said that to all)....I was alright. They weren't happy I didn't have music but I said I came prepared to sing without, Im not afraid!. Sang Roxy. They laughed at me, but not meanly, at the words. Said 'thankyou, see ya!'. I think I didn't sing too badly but I was nervous and my voice was shakey even tho I tried so hard to be normal'

So she is pretty pleased. I am stoked that she even got that far. She has been for hardly any auditions and she's landed one job (and has work atm due to the earlier work) and now she's gotten through to round 3 in a musical audition (her first).

It's not her PURE DREAM, her dream was classical, but we always knew that would be highly unlikely, she's too big.  But she is getting to make a career of her dancing and that is no mean feat!

At the moment she is rehearsing for a show called 'Cafe Berlin'. It's contempory. She is a pickpocket and has a male partner. She said it is lots of fun, and there's some singing in it too. It is opening in May for a short run, and if it does well they're taking it on tour. Bugger that it won't be on when we are there :(

It's hard though, she has had to live in Munich during the week, and she has no accomodation there (there is no way she can afford an apartment, esp just for M-F) so she has been lucky enough to stay in the studio. It has a bed, kitchen and shower - plus she has been able to do all the dance classes every night -s0 that's gotta be good for her training. And she got to practise Roxy in the studio at 2am all by herself with the full mirrors! LOL! I said " I can just imagine you looking at yourself in the mirror and singing away' she said 'YES!!!"

So perhaps, Lil' Sis will be Masquarading in the near future! WOOHOO!! (That was always  MY dream, but she's welcome to have it!)

    Freakus Meakus!!!

The other day Peta msged me with this freaky story....

Freakiest thing just happened. Puss was standing at the lounge room door meowwing. Then the door just opened. I looked up expecting John, but no one was there. The door had opened on it's own - and it's a sliding door!

Then - the other day, must have been Friday night. All 3 kids were in bed and Mark had gone into the city to meet some work mates.

I was sitting here on the computer and I heard the Harry Potter Castle going off (and by going off I mean 'woohhhooooooo wooohhhhhooooo). I looked up, expecting to see Connor out of bed and playing with it, Leanne had only given it to him the other day and he loves it. But no, no one was there. but the castle had opened up its doors and was playing!!!

I went up - SHUT THE DOORS and TURNED IT OFF A THE BACK! I then rang Peta and told her that her ghost had come over here for a visit!!

    Hippo Birdy Two Ewes

    Well - today I turn 34! ARGGHHHH!

Scarily though, I forget that Im that old. I think that Im about 27/8 - which is a worry as that was a LOONNNNNGGGG TIMMMMMEEEEE AGGGGOOOOOOO!

Had a nice day so far - albiet had to go to work!

Having chinese for tea - yum! Gotta have it late late late though cause I dont finish teaching til 9.

Pressies - got a PDA 02 palm pilot thingy from Mark! very swish! Not sure quite how to use it but he is having fun setting it up! And a dvd from the kiddlets

Getting money from mummy and daddy to go shopping! YIPEEEE!!

Peta is taking me out Friday night to a show called 'Boy Band' about the 80s - It will be a HOOT! Plus she gave me a trendy shirt!!

Casey gave me 'Royal Wedding' with Fred Astaire - so think I'll watch that tomorrow.

Also received money from nanna and from Ali & Norma (well there's is a voucher - woohoo!) and a gorgeous top from Sally!

Got lots of text messages and lovely drawings and cards from family and friends. A very kooky card from Casey that when you open it up, sings happy birthday and has a little tv with a stevie wonder cartoon doing a dance! VERY VERY COOL!

So - what a wonderful haul of pressies and cards! Never expected half of them, so was very surprised and overwhelmed!

Gotta go and teach now :(

Ahhh - to be 33 again! LOL

    VROOOOMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yesterday arvo we went out to Oran Park for the'classic car racing' day. Marks mate from work got us some free tix!

It was fun (because it was only 2 hours and I didnt get bored in that time!)

Connor and Darcy and Daddy loved it very much. CJ stayed at the dancing competition and didnt want to come (can't say I blame her! LOL)

Here is BOY with the racing cars (I forgot my camera, had to use phone camera!)

Big boy was drooling over the MGs - of course!

    1st Highland Trophy!

As i posted the other day,CJ is n0w in Beginners. You  usually go into beg when you turn 7, but because cj has her birthday just before we go to Adelaide we have bumped her up early so she's m0re used 2 it.

Anyway, today she w0n her 1st ever highland tr0phy (in Primary theyre n0t allowed 2 be awarded tr0phies.) She g0t 2nd in the TR0PHY DANCE HIGHLAND FLING.

I was actually very disapointed in her dancing. We had a very late night last night, got home at midnight, so she was, obvivously, in a BAD mood today - and very tired. And her dancing showed it. She made mistakes in the Swords for goodness sakes! She's been doing that for 2 years!! She also mucked up the Flora, the Seann Triubhas and the Lilt!

But she got through the Fling - and it happened to be the "Trophy Dance" so she was a very lucky girl!

    My Son The Thug!

Well, Connor got into a punch up at the shopping centre last night! UMMMMAHHHHHH

He let fly - full boxing stance - all almost 4 years of him!!!

And all I did was laugh! BAD MUMMY!!!

Let me explain to you why.....

The shopping centre near CJs dancing has a wee play area in the food court. Every dancing lesson we pop up there for half an hour. Connor always makes friends with whomever is playing there - young or old. Darcy just toddles on behind and amuses herself.

Last night, being late night shopping, it was pretty packed.

There was a boy, a bit younger than Connor, but much beefier, who was being MEAN.

He was deliberately veering off his running course to push Darcy over, a few times I had gotten up off my chair to have a go but D had gotten over it quickly, just brushed herself off and carried on, so I did nothing.

Well, this last time he was particularily vicious. He ran past and pushed, with both hands, smack into the small of Darcy's back. She was airborne!!

    She was ok.

However - Connor had just rounded the corner when this happened.......

    He LUNGED at the kid

Grabbed him by the collar and dragged him around to face him

All the while shouting DON'T YOU HURT MY BABY!!!!!!!!!

Then he jabs him a quick right left right  in the chest

The boy tries to whack Connor back, but Connor's got the element of surprise and anger on his side!

I rush over to break it up (as do the boys parents) but no sooner had it started then it was over!

Connor turns to me and says 'He was hurting Darcy!'

    Oh Dear! What to say!

I said 'Well you mustn't hit darling'

What I wanted to say was 'well done - you got him good!'

Thing is - the kid didn't learn. Sure he didnt bother Darcy again, but 5 minutes later I saw him deliberately stand on another little girl who was lying down on the step.

I dont think she had a big brother to save her though, I did consider sending Connor over.....
    March 09

    I feel ick....

Just feel yucky today. Think Im coming down with something. Just feel ick. Got sore chest and heavy arms and very tired. Could just be that Darcy's nighttime antics (she is teething) have caught up to me. Hope that's it. I dont want to go to the Dr - dont have time to fit it in.

Gonna try and have a lie down whilst Darcy is asleep. But problem is Con! I can set him up with a movie but he still likes to come and 'check' on me. That would be ok cept that he thumps in like an elephant and wakes Darcy as he goes past!

But firstly, gotta go out and paint the floor of the studio as it's getting slippery again. Actually, think I'll do that tomorrow. Think I'll make Connor a jam sandwich, put on a video and crash.

    Alexander Beetle

A good friend of Peta's had a baby boy the other day. They named him Alexander. I went and looked at their blog and as well as announcing his arrival Xander's dad had put up a poem 'Alexander Beetle'. I remember learning it as a child. I think I did it at an eisteddfod (mum - comment please - did I?)

So here it is again - gonna teach it to CJ.

I found a little beetle, so that beetle was his name,
And I called him Alexander and he answered just the same.
I put him in a matchbox, and I kept him all the day...
And Nanny let my beetle out
Yes, Nanny let my beetle out
She went and let my beetle out-
    And beetle ran away.

She said she didn't mean it, and I never said she did,
She said she wanted matches, and she just took off the lid
She said that she was sorry, but it's difficult to catch
An excited sort of beetle you've mistaken for a match.

She said that she was sorry, and I really mustn't mind
As there's lots and lots of beetles which she's certain we could find
If we looked about the garden for the holes where beetles hid-
And we'd get another matchbox, and write BEETLE on the lid.

We went to all the places which a beetle might be near,
And we made the sort of noises which a beetle likes to hear,
And I saw a kind of something, and I gave a sort of shout:
"A beetle-house and Alexander Beetle coming out!"

It was Alexander Beetle I'm as certain as can be
And he had a sort of look as if he thought it might be ME,
And he had a kind of look as if he thought he ought to say:
"I'm very, very sorry that I tried to run away."

And Nanny's very sorry too, for you know what she did,
And she's writing ALEXANDER very blackly on the lid,
So Nan and me are friends, because it's difficult to catch
An excited Alexander you've mistaken for a match.

    tracksuits tracksuits tracksuits

I am eating sleeping and dreaming bloody tracksuits at the moment!!

We are ordering new trackies for dancing. Big drama! The company have been very busy and only just got me the price yesterday -$80 for the adults sizes $70 for the kids. Sounds alot I know, but there is lots of embroidery going on them.

I felt bad about the price, but then today when Con was at gym they were talking about their new tracksuits - $120!!! Wow! Mine are a bargain!!!

So now that i have the prices I have to chase up those who haven't put an order in to check if they want one. If they do - I need the order by Fri so I can give it to the printer, so that we can have them done and here by the first week in April - pushing it I know!

But I SOOOO want them for the girls for NZ and then Adelaide the week after!

So - it will be trackie nightmares for the rest of the week! lol!

    Tadpole Diaries

Late last year, when we were getting to pool ready (so around late November, early December) we discovered tadpoles in our little shell pool.

It made sense because during the rains in October, I'd be out teaching the girls and we would hear what sounded like thousands of frogs croaking away - we know now that they were being amourous!!

So, all summer we have been watching our tadpoles grow!

At first there were hundreds, but I guess it's survival of the fittest (especially when you have a Connor in the family who likes to check them out by trying to lift up the side!)

At the start we could see them well, but as summer progressed the water got murkier and murkier and we would have to sneak up on them and watch their little noses peek out to breath.

Well, over a month ago - yes - before Mums accident, we discovered some had legs!! OMG! We had FROGLETS!!!

    We were chuffed!!

Then, a fortnight ago we saw our first Hoppity Hop hopping around the sides. But many others were still in the 'developing' stages.

So last weekend we wanted to take them to the creek to SET THEM FREEEEEE but ran out of time.

Tonight, after returning from Newcastle I thought 'we better just get this done NOW'

So 3 very excited children came out the back with me whilst I fished them out with a plastic jug and into an old esky.

It was a dangerous job - for us and the tadpoles. Darcy nearly ended up in the drink a dozen times - and not just the little tadpole pool - but the big one too!

Finally we got them all (we think!! We HOPE!) TWENTY FIVE OF THEM!!!!!

We all trouped down to the creek (in the reserve in the street behind us) and we said our fond farewells.

    It was very exciting!!!

I tried to keep a photo diary of them, but they shots just wouldn't turn out, the water was always too murky and the tadpoles too gray.

But - here are the photos of us taking them down to the creek.

    March 04

I'm so proud of my dancing girls! (And my Big Girl!)

It's taken me a week to get around to writing about it (and uploading the photos!) But last weekend was the first competition of the year.

    My girls did SOOO well!

Cailin won the pointscore in the Junior Beginners
Averil won the pointscore in the Senior Beginners
Courtney Eilish won 2nd in the Beginners Trophy Dance Fling

Sarah won the Heather and Carmel Sword Dance and a plethora of prizes all day.

Lauren won heaps of places throughout the day

Ali, Kirstin and Tenille had a very tough adults section and didn't do any good - but worked very well.

And my girls - Ceilidh and Case!

Ceilidh i was SOOO proud of! Her very first beginners competition, and she's only 6! What a clever girl! And she got 2 2nds! One in the swords and one in the Seann Triubhas!!

And Case - here she was, over here to look after mum. Hadn't done highland since she was back here in July (when she had 2 lessons!). She had 3 lessons with Carolyn before the competition, came to one lesson of mine  and PRESTO! Won the Law Family Open Premier Scottish Lilt! In it's inaugural year!!

And - to add to all of this, Ive just received phone calls from the girls who went to Newcastle to say that they did very well - Kirstin WON the Senior Restricted Title -WOOHOO! Lauren won some dances and placed in most of the rest!!! Averil and Courtney picked up Beginners prizes through out the day!!
Now tomorrow - we have the first Championship of the year!!! You girls WILL ROCK!!!!!

WHAT A BRILLIANT START TO THE YEAR GIRLS!!!!!!!!!!! WOOOOHHOOO!
    March 03

    Way 2 go BRUM!

Brum Brum Yes He Is A Super Human Super Hero

    Brum Brum Here He Comes!!!

We went and saw Brum today! Connor was so excited, not just because of Brum, but because Aidan (aka - Train Boy) was going to be there too!

Darcy was excited because most of the boys were wearing spiderman shirts (because Spiddy made an appearance at the end of the show!) She kept pointing to shirts and saying 'aye a annn' (which translates to spiderman - OBVIOUSLY!!)
