I w0nder how often in life I'll be pleased to hear this directi0n for my daughter

'That's it Darcy! Really launch your spit! Excellent! N0w ~ the finger!'

Today was our 'make up' day or in the technical terms 'pick ups'

It was only going to be for 2hours or so and it went for 4!

Which was fine - I KNEW it would! I have quickly learnt to adapt to what a Directors Minute is...heehee

Jason said himself today, when Darcy asked 'is that it Jason, am I finished?' "You'd better check with Mat, Darcy, because a Director will always want to do more shots!"

I was sooooooo proud of Dee today. She was truly FABULOUS!!! It was STINKING hot. She was wearing that hot outfit - plus the flame thrower for about about half the time. And she rocked. She didnt complain once. She bounded around and had a wonderful time.

She listened to everything Jason said and then tried to do it, down to things like 'make sure that after your pour the tea pot, dont leave your hand on the table to balance when you stand up because that doesnt make the best shot. Now lunge forward and stomp on the flame thrower...' and she did it all!! Again and again and again!!

Jason gave her ANOTHER present at the end of the day!! A fairy pendant and a 'learn to tell the time' watch. She is a very lucky girl.

So now it really IS all over *sigh*

It's all a little sad. But I've a feeling it may just be the beginning of things to come...

My Ballet Boy

Connor had his grade one ballet exam today. He said he was fabulous (his words, not mine!) It's great that he has such confidence in himself! LOL!

He looked great and was very confident about his work (thanks to some extra lessons in the past fortnight!)

Bit Shitty

You will remember from a few weeks ago, I posted Ceilidh's speech on 'This Future For Me'.

Now, i was really really impressed and happy with the quirky weirdness of her speech. It was very entertaining and fun.

Admittedly I helped her with the speech. She had left it til the last minute, she was going off to Dance Camp, so, late on a Sunday night she sat in front of me, whilst I had the laptop on my lap and she spoke out her speech to me - in rambling thisses and thats.

I typed as she spoke. We then printed it up - like that...

She went away and crossed bits out, and added bits. There were arrows and lines going everywhere.

Then then brought it back to me. She read it out - I typed it up as she read.

I then gave her some tips - on bits that didn't flow, or where she could extend an idea etc etc.

We did this over the course of about 90mins or so.

She took it to school. The class loved it. The teacher said it was great, and laughed throughout it. She then said to Ceilidh 'Did your mum help you with that?' and my honest girl said 'yes, Miss, a bit.'

End of story....

But no - not end of story...

It came to the time where Miss chooses who represents the class for the Stage 3 Oracy competition (the one that CJ got 3rd in last year -for Stage 2). CJ didn't expect to be chosen, as she is in a 5/6 composite class and she said the Yr 6's will get picked. I didn't contradict her, but I did think to myself that I was sure the teacher would also pick one year 5, and I knew that her speech was good. So I was pretty confident that she could get chosen.

She came home one day and told me, quite disheartened. That Mrs Clark told Ceilidh that 'yes' her speech was good, but it was too much of her mums work, and not enough of Ceilidh's so she wouldn't be chosen to do the speech.

WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am so angry about this!!!! Here she is DOING her homework. Here she is HONEST about the fact that 'yes' her mum helped her and 'yes' her mum CARES enough to help her - and she gets penalised by that..

GRRRRRRR!!!!!

Did I do anything about it - - - - -

No!! I just let it slide. I just told CJ that sometimes teachers are really strict on that kind of thing, and if she gets a different teacher next year she can do the same speech if she wants! LOL!

My Lego Land Surprises

I posted a few months ago about how Connor, when he is in my bed, makes little lego surprises for me and puts them on the bedside table.

I have decided i need to take a camera in to leave in the bedside draw because he is still doing it. Each day (or 2nd/3rd day - depending on how often I say 'yes, you can go into my bed and watch tele). I will go to bed, and he will have gone into his bed by then. However, sitting on the draw will be little figurines made just for me.

Then in the morning he will say 'did you like my lego for you Mummy?'

It's so beautiful.

Love my darling softy boy, he's such a dolly.

Girls Day

Today DeeDee and I popped in to the city for a few hours.

Initially it was for a CBA casting, but that was only a part of the day (a manic part - Dee was number 40 and they were lining up down the stairs by the time we left - so not expecting a call for THAT job! LOL)

Anyway, as we were in the city, Dee asked if we could go and have lunch with Daddy at the Botanical Gardens. And seeings as it was only midday and she looked so pretty for a trip to Town, I decided yes.

My daughter is no lover of Nature - let me tell you!! There were screams and whinges as we went under trees and near flowers 'Ohh noooo bats, ahh the birds with bite me, MUm Bumble Bees' etc etc etc! LOL

Praying to the Patron Saint of Actors??

Or should I pray to the patron saint of children? That is St Christopher I think???

Must go and google who the Actor one is - bet there is one! LOL!

Anyway, Im totally STRESSING about tomorrow. Completely losing it (on the inside - to Dee I remain calm and chirpy). SHe's not been overly keen to go back tomorrow. We've come to the 'been there done that' moment and this mornign she said she didnt want to film tomorrow, that she'd do it sometime next week, she just wanted to stay at home!!

Well, I had lots of talks and discusions and then I went off to the SDA meeting - OF WHICH I DIDNT GET BACK FROMUNTIL 7PM!!!

By thattime, she was happily speaking about tomorrow> mark had been talking it up today, and she was happy again. Also we got sent a photo of the 'new' flame thrower - which is MUCH smaller and has the Producers 3 year old daughter next to it, which shows it is much littlier. So she is happy about that!!

She has gone to bed relaxed and eager about tomorrow. Just hope it continues. It is a HUGE DAY tomrrow.
HUGE HUGE HUGE!!

BTW - Just googled it ....

A little overwhelmed!

I realise I've not blogged about Dee's film yet. Frankly, it's all a bit much. I can't believe how well it's going and how amazingly she's been doing.

I personally thought she was going great, but have made a point of not being in the way in any way, so didn't really know.

An hour ago I received a phone call from the director. He rang to see how The Princess was enjoying her day off. He then proceeded to tell me how amazing she is, how he has never worked with a 5 year old who can take direction like she can and how brilliant the rushes are looking.

I am still gobsmacked about the phone call. I rang Vicki straight away and repeated what he told me. He was on the phone to me for about 15mins waxing lyrical about Dee!!

OMG!

coincidence?

On the drive out to the set yesterday, two minutes after passing Leppington Lawn Cemetry Darcy starts talking about Nanna Josephine & how proud she would be of her.....

She wouldn't recognise that cemetry. a) it doesn't look like a cemetry, b) she's never been there.

Where did that random comment come from - and at that exact moment in time. We were only just at Leppington shops when she said it...

It was really lovely because we talked about how, yes, Nanna Josephine would be VERY proud of her Missy Dee and she would want to know all the things she was doing. Then Dee said 'but she does know cause she is watching from heaven, with Rowan too.'

Off to bed!

I'm so tired, and I'm not even doing anything! I spent the day sitting on my bum and moving from shot to shot whilst my 5year old worked like a slave!!

But mentally, it was exhausting. Making sure she could come up to me when she had breaks, ensuring she didnt dirty the gorgeous costume with the plethora of pink food they had for her, giving cuddles when cuddles were needed!

I will try to blog from on set tomorrow. I am taking my lappy down into the gardens whilst they do the scenes tomorrow. So will give you the major run down from there!!

Mum did get Dee's story of today in her words, so I will blog that on the weekend too!

The joys of an anxious parent!

I didn't sleep well last night and am sure tonight will be even more disturbed! Have bitten my nails down to the quick. I'm seriously quaking in my boots! (I just wrote quacking - I am that too!!)

Yes, I am a movie star!!

When I was 17 or 18 I had a bright yellow Sigma. On the back of that car I had a sticker that said 'Yes, I am a movie star!' I loved that sticker! LOL! Idiot that I was!! (And still am!!)

I've not wanted to post this as I'm afraid I will jinx it - but have decided today is the day to let people know more details.

Darcy got the part in that casting she went for the other day.

She starts filming Wednesday. There's 3 days of filming.

She is sooooooo excited. It's all she can speak of! She has watched the story board a million times, knows the story inside out and back the front and is telling people "I'm going to be a movie star!''

It is being filmed at Camelot, which is so exciting as I have always wanted to explore Camelot. WE used to drive past there often when I was a little girl, and only about 12months ago, when I was visiting a student out at Camden, I went via the gates of that old house, and stopped and peered in and thought 'oh - if only Mr Darcy and I could live in a place like that!'

Well it may not be Mr Darcy - but my Darcy - and it may not be 'live' but 'pretend to live' and frankly - that's close enough!! My dream will be fulfilled!! :)

I have some amazingly wonderful friends who have offered and are taking Connor and Ceilidh for the 3 days, for sleep overs and plays. THank you so much to them!! They will get to still have a wonderful holiday whilst there sister is 'working'!! lol!

Matt, the director, did say to me that I was welcome to bring the other 2 out on set if I liked. And I may take him up on that offer on Thursday, when Mum and Dad are going to have the other two. I know that Mum and Dad would love to come out and see as well, so when Wednesday has happened, and I know more about stuff, I will see if it's possible for them to bring the children out of a visit, and lunch maybe.

Today Dee and I (and Ceilidh's coming too) are driving over to Crows Nest for a wardrobe check. Dee has to try on all the costumes, and check the flame thrower fits! LOL!

I am now just going to share (so I can remember for the future) snippets of an email from Vicki, our agent, about what happened when Dee secured the part...

The feedback from the CD has been amazing about how astonishing Darcy is, that is the major word, there were very many other superlatives used.
Fran also told me today I was a life saver as no one else came close &
they cast in Melbourne as well as Sydney for this.

Jus,
They were very impressed with how Darcy presented at the casting,
most of the other children just came in dressed in casual clothes with
no thought paid to the fairly obvious brief as we discussed, this played
a part in the success as they could not get over how much she "looked the part".

Here is a couple of screen shots from the story board of her swipping!!

♥ ♥ ♥ is still buzzing from yesterday ♥ ♥ ♥

Wow what a day we had yesterday at Feel The Beat eisteddfod.

And I just typed Feet the Beat - and that's what it was!! Feet Feet Feet!!

Connor and DeeDee had their jazzes in the same section. Con's jazz troupe was Fantastic!!!! They used both stages and the little pro's didn't miss a trick! It looked Fabulous!! And it won!!!

Then was their new tap troupe. SOOOOOO cute!!! Soooo great!! A real comedy!!!

Poor Con fell over tripping up the stairs on his way off the stage at the end of the dance. He liked all the sympathy from everyone! Here he is, sitting sad, whilst ready to have the ice pack put on his poor weeping shins!

We stayed all day long and saw every one of the amazing RGDANCE troupes!! Loved it!!!
