Then we got an invite out 2 dinner at The Horsemens, and we havent seen them 4 m0nths, so i ch0ose that! I also let the kids dress up 2go 2 Carolyns 4 their highland less0n. Con is fam0us Liverpo0l s0ccer player, Aussie, Harry Kewell. Darcy is a disco diva & Ceilidh is a Devil Woman! Btw,very much lo0king forward 2 all hall0ws eve ending & all saints day starting S0 I'LL HAVE MY BR0ADBAND BACK! October 30 Making a baby.
There is not one dirty word in it, and it is still funny. The Smiths were unable to conceive children and decided to use a surrogate father to start their family. On the day the proxy father was to arrive, Mr. Smith kissed his wife goodbye and said, 'Well, I'm off now. The man should be here soon.' Half an hour later, just by chance, a door-to-door baby photographer happened to ring the doorbell, hoping to make a sale. 'Good morning, Ma'am', he said, 'I've come to...' 'Oh, no need to explain,' Mrs. Smith cut in, embarrassed, 'I've been expecting you.' 'Have you really?' said the photographer. 'Well, that's good. Did you know babies are my specialty?' 'Well that's what my husband and I had hoped. Please come in and have a seat'. After a moment she asked, blushing, 'Well, where do we start?' 'Leave everything to me. I usually try two in the bath, one on the couch, and perhaps a couple on the bed. And sometimes the living room floor is fun. You can really spread out there.' 'Bath, living room floor? No wonder it didn't work out for Harry and me!' 'Well, Ma'am, none of us can guarantee a good one every time. But if we try several different positions and I shoot from six or seven angles, I'm sure you'll be pleased with the results.' 'My, that's a lot!', gasped Mrs. Smith. 'Ma'am, in my line of work a man has to take his time. I'd love to be in and out in five minutes, but I'm sure you'd be disappointed with that.' 'Don't I know it!' said Mrs. Smith quietly. The photographer opened his briefcase and pulled out a portfolio of his baby pictures. 'This was done on the top of a bus,' he said. 'Oh, my word!' Mrs. Smith exclaimed, grasping at her throat. 'And these twins turned out exceptionally well - when you consider their mother was so difficult to work with.' 'She was difficult?' asked Mrs. Smith. 'Yes, I'm afraid so. I finally had to take her to the park to get the job done properly. People were crowding around four and five deep to get a good look' 'Four and five deep?' said Mrs. Smith, her eyes wide with amazement. 'Yes', the photographer replied. 'And for more than three hours, too. The mother was constantly squealing and yelling - I could hardly concentrate, and when darkness approached I had to rush my shots. Finally, when the squirrels began nibbling on my equipment, I just had to pack it all in.' Mrs. Smith leaned forward. 'Do you mean they actually chewed on your, uh...equipment?' 'It's true, Ma'am, yes.. Well, if you're ready, I'll set-up my tripod and we can get to work right away.' 'Tripod?' 'Oh yes, Ma'am. I need to use a tripod to rest my Canon on. It's much too big to be held in the hand very long.' . . . . . . . . Mrs Smith fainted! October 29 Jack from SYTYCDAs I posted earlier this year. The kids and I were AVID watchers of the Aussie So You Think You Can Dance. We voted each week, we boo-ed and cheered. CJ and I even wrote crit sheets!! Me, who usually has the kids in bed as early as I can on a Sunday night because of our huge week, let them stay up to watch the show - even Darcy. My SMSing to Mandy and Mum went through the roof every time the show was on.
Well, Jack Chambers won the show. He was wonderful - and he just got better and better as the weeks progressed. Part of his prize (along with the $200k) was a routine choregraphed by Mia Michaels, and a chance to perform it at the choreographers ball. I found on YouTube a video of him doing it - and a video of him rehearsing it. Please see below... (not sure I like it that much really..) They have now started auditions for 2009 SYTYCD. And I KNOW THREE PEOPLE IN THE TOP 100!!! It is so very very very exciting!! Firstly, Belinda Lush, from Perth got through. She is a highland dancer who danced with Casey, and like Case she did all kinds of dancing. Along with Belinda - Brady Kitchingham from RG is through to the top 100, The kids are VERY VERY excited about that. Brady is Connor's hero at dancing. And then, Alexander Rogers is also through. Alexander used to go to RG, and now goes to Brent Street. His mum is the preschool director when my kids go/went to preschool. Plus he is the brother of Leilani and Kaiesha's dancer teacher!
I am very much looking forward to hearing how all three go in the 100WEEK! It will be wonderful!!! October 28 Lithgow - a-go go go!We travelled up to Lithgow on Sunday for their annual dancing competition.
Ceilidh has done 4 Intermediate competitions so far. I wasn't sure she was ready for INtermediate, I had said to Carolyn 'should we wait until November, or until next year?' but Carolyn had said 'no, we need to get her started'.
Well I am so glad we have! She has really risen to the occasion. Her first comp, at Young she got placed 6th in the Title - and it was a tricky section. Her 2nd competition at Newcastle she got 2nd in the Hornpipe - the 2nd time she had done it. And then yesterday - tough section - and she got 2nd in Lilt and 3rd in FLora!! Great work CJ!!
Con got 2nd in Fling, and first in Pdbs and Pdbs and Highcuts!
Here is CJ with her medals and then a picture of both of their medals.
Plus, a video of Ceilidh doing her hornpipe - it was the first time I had seen it.
Dee did her pbs - went the wrong way! lol! She was up with Connor and Sheryl has videoed it for me. She is so serious on stage, she never mucks up or is silly. She stands so professionally! LOL!
October 27 Four - OHHHH!October 26 WOW!!! What a night!!!!!We have just returned home from the RG Soloist's Concert.
OMG!!! There are no words to describe the standard of these dancers - they are phenomenal (not counting Con - he is just cute factor!)
You forget how young these girls and boys are. I wish I could explain the level of dance expertise that these CHILDREN have. The ballet duo was what you would see in a company - and they are FOURTEEN! Brady and Brittany's jazz/ contemporary duo would look in the right place on So You Think You Can Dance. Kayla Maree and CHarles' duo - THEY ARE CEILIDH'S AGE! They are doing lifts and spins and aerials throughout the amazing routine! OMG OMG OMG!! Then the solos - OH MY!! I sobbed and sobbed my little heart out when Ben danced his ballet contemp to Electricity, and when Brady and Brittany were doing My Song from Moulin Rouge - OH MY GOD!!!
Next time, next year, you must come - you must!!! It was like going to a professional dance show - really and truly!!!
I was very very proud of Connor - he was a good chappie. He made a few mistakes but got lots of cheers for cuteness and he had a good time. He fell asleep in the 2nd half and missed some of the ones I really wanted him to watch - like Ricky's. Ricky's was great!!! Ceilidh and Darcy had a lovely time with their RG friends, and Leilani and Kaiesha.
I have a beautiful video to put up, but will have to do it at Mum and Dads as Ive run out of broadband and just loading this page took forever!! It is of Con's solo and it was videoed by CJ or one of her friends in the front row. The videoing was pretty crummy, but what is beautiful is the support and comments from Connor's friends sitting with Ceilidh. I was smiling so much when I was watching it.
I shall load it up tomorrow night when we get home from Lithgow. Speaking of Lithgow - we leave for there in 6 hours. Better get to bed!! October 25 Inspired By Peta's Anne of Green Gables Movie Marathon The Other Night....The other night Peta stayed up until 5am watching Anne of Green Gables. This was one of our childhood obsessions. We loved it. I loved the books too - I don't think Peta read them, at least not all of them. Mum bought my the first book when I was about 9. In the back of it I had to write the words that I didnt understand, so that I could look them up iwth Mum in the morning. I still have my series, although I think that the first book is no longer here, I remember the spine cover falling off it and I haven't seen it for a longtime, but the others are all in my bookshelf.
I thought Megan Follows and Jonathon Crombie were perfectly cast as Anne and Gilbert!!
The Highwayman PART ONE I THE wind was a torrent of darkness among the gusty trees, II He'd a French cocked-hat on his forehead, a bunch of lace at his chin, III Over the cobbles he clattered and clashed in the dark inn-yard, IV And dark in the dark old inn-yard a stable-wicket creaked V "One kiss, my bonny sweetheart, I'm after a prize to-night, VI He rose upright in the stirrups; he scarce could reach her hand,

It was called PULP and it was improv, but based on PULP FICTION. It was really good!!! So funny!!Very silly, and the audience particiaption is fun - but scary when you are put on the spot! My contribution was 'Llama Legs and TicTacs' and Sals was 'A Pencil Case'. It is amazing what scenes they were able to do from weird things like that!!
We are going to make a date for seeing more comedy shows. Their next show is: A Regular One Night Stand. So let me know if you would like to come with us!!
PULP
They inspired Quentin Tarantino! They spawned countless films and TV shows! They thrilled the popular imagination for decades!
They were cheap fiction magazines from the 1920's to the 50's and mass-market paperbacks from the 50's and 60's , and they are best remembered for their sensational cover art. PULP is a new theatre piece that blends improvisation and script, bringing to life these shocking and hilarious tales from the past for the audience's interactive and voyeuristic pleasure. PULP is a dramatically different live show. A foray into mixed media, mixed genre theatre, blending scripted scenes with awe-inspiring improvisation, surround sound and visual effects to create a theatrical experience that will thrill and excite the imagination. Hot steamy tales of Sex and Crime! Weird Science Fiction and Fantasy! Thrilling, hard-boiled Detective Mysteries! Sexually repressed English Dramas from the 1940's! Savage Jungle Adventures from Australian Pulp Writers of the 1950's! Dark, brooding, violent Westerns! Hot-housed in the perennially popular world of improvised comedy and Theatresports, PULP has brought together veteran actors and performers from the Sydney improvisational theatre scene in their most challenging and funniest show ever. Wonderfully fleshed-out characters and intriguing story-lines created by a cast with a wealth of live acting experience and an obsession with the distinct genres of the pulp fiction world. The skill with which these actors cover a wide breadth of theatrical and film genres, interweaving audience suggestions and interactive scenes with scripted genre showpieces is brilliant. Starring: Ewan Campbell, David Callan, Daniel Cordeaux, Rebecca DeUnamuno, Monique Dykstra, Murray Fahey, Matthew Foster, John Knowles, Marko Mustac, Josie O'Reilly, Lisa Ricketts, Nigel Sutton, and Jon Williams. Created and directed by self-confessed pulp-genre-junkie and theatre veteran Marko Mustac and Produced by Impro Australia's Artistic Director John Knowles, PULP takes its lead from a description of Tarantino's ground-breaking films, by combining "discipline and control with sheer wild-ass joy". Come and experience the primal passions, dime-store drama and exploitative stories of ...PULP. It was just one night - thankfully!!
She had a MARVELLOUS TIME!! She didn't shower and she didnt brush her hair - but she had a great trip! :)
I am now going to write what she says verbatim... here goes....
The first thing we did when we got there was go straight to our dorms. Then we did Orientering, but I wasn't put with a good group becuase they wouldnt listen to my ideas much! And we came 2nd (out of 4 groups). Then we went on the flying fox and I was 'business class' Cause economy class is when u sit int he harness and you wait for someone to push you down - well that's boring. Then business class where you run and jump and hold onto it and fly down - IT WAS SO COOL! But I didnt do First Class because it was a drop and you are backwards spinning and I was too frightened to do that. You only got one turn because there were 24 people having a turn. Then we had lunch. So after lunch we did caving and it was so little we had to craw like animals. I hurt my ankle cause my boot got stuck. On the way you go through the safest bits but on the way back you go a different way and you have to squeeze through and the man had lift you up and help you through at the end because my foot was stuck. And then he had to help me up this steep hill to the top because my ankle was sore. Then it was dinner time and I had spaghetti bolognaise and then ice cream.
We went back to our dorm and got long clothes on and went out to the camp fire and had a bush walk and then came back to the campfire and sang songs around it "I said a boom chicka boom boom. I said a boom chika rocket chicka rocket chicka boom..." (Im not typing anymore of that song!!) Then we had supper and had hot chocolate and marshmellows and told scary stories. DAY TWO - we got up at 6.30 in the morning, and we only got 1.5 hours sleep because Tara hummed in her sleep and Amanda JUST TALKS and Michaela is PYSHCO - plus she vomited in bed!! And I was underneath!!! ANd the teachers didnt clean up anything!!!
So for brekkie we had pancakes. After breakfst and after packing we went to the giant swing. I LOVED the giant swing!!!!Mrs Kemp took a photo of me on it. It is 15m high - I got to swing 13m high!!!!!! People have a rope and they pull you back and back and back and the instructor says 123 and they let go. AND YOU SWING SO FAST YOU CAN HARDLY SEE THE GROUND. This is my most favourite thing of the camp. Even better than the flying fox!! I loved it!!
Then we made damper and it was so YUM!!! And I got lots of maple syrup and my hands got sticky. The people made the dough and we broke bits off and put it on sticks. We had to hold them into the fire for about 10misn and if it was hard on the outside it's probably not done. Then about after another 10mins tried it again, and it was ready. Then we had hotdogs for lunch and then we came home. My camer ran out of batteries and mum didnt give me spares so I couldnt take many photos. So there are only some photos of the first day. October 22 RG SOLOISTS CONCERT - Coming soon! This Saturday night RGDANCE are having their 'Soloist's Spectacular'. They have over 40 soloists at the studio, and I think this year, rather than try and slot them into the concert they are having a separate show.
It should be great - albiet L.O.N.G.
You have to be specially chosen to be a soloist - so the standard is phenomenal.
It's on Saturday 25th October at SHORE SCHOOL. More info at www.rgdance.com if you would like to come along. Anyway, last week we received an email about info that they would like their Soloists to answer so the MC will have something to say before each item. It was a list of questions. I didn't tee Connor up. I just made the girls move away so they couldn't influence him and I asked him each question and wrote his answers verbatim.
IT WAS VERY VERY VERY HARD NOT TO LAUGH!!!!! Here are the questions and his answers.....
Funky Music (Connor said 'Umm - Disco Duck!!' Yeah sure Con - all 32 counts of your tap that you know!)
2. Who would you like to dedicate tonights performance to. Mum!
3. What is your biggest achievement so far? Last year at school I had to dance Funky Music at the talent quest and I came 1st place because I had no shirt on!

October 19 If you go down to the woods today....Be sure of a big surprise!!
We were at the Teddy Bear's Picnic today...
It was very good - but VERY HOT and VERY VERY BUSY!!!
Con's dance went over well - CJ videoed it for me (will stick it up here for you to see!)
Have since found out that Mandy, Stefan and the girls were there today too!! Apparently Stef saw Mark but Mark didnt hear him calling out.
We are home now, and kids are in bed, but not asleep yet. Had a lovely dinner at the club for Kiara and Leah's 7th birthday.
Ballet exams tomorrow! Im so excited!! Here are some shots from today....
October 18 Busy 48 Hours
Well, other than the normal dance/school rush it goes like this..
This saturday - dancing but Con has an extra lesson at the end for ballet exam practice.
Sunday - We are off to the teddy bears picnic at Rosehill Racecourse. Connors troupe is dancing 'do u love me'. I will try & tape it. The kids are so excited about the teddy bears picnic. Gonna cost me a fortune though! Con gets in free but we have to pay for the rest of us - $ 50 for a family ticket! Yikes! And you pay once they are over ONE!!!!
Then after we have been there all day/arvo (gotta get our moneys worth) we are off to the club at Merrylands for dinner for the twin 2nd cousins 7th birthday!
So that's sunday.
Then we're on to Monday. Normal you'd think? Nup! The kids have their ballet exam in the arvo. Which is great because they are both after each other -I am very lucky!
I am sending them to school til recess then picking them up, home for shower & lunch and then we will leave for the exam.
While they are at school I am heading to Campbelltown to the Oesteopath as I haven't been for 5 weeks (holidays and being sick and being away) and my headaches have started coming back - so it shows that the sessions have been helping keep them away. Anyway, on the way home from Ctown I need to stop in at Casula Arts Centre to pick up some tickets - if I have time!
The Lovely Leanne is taking my dancing class for me Monday night, which means I have to make the most of not being home and do stuff I usually have to say 'no' to - like family Monday night dinners!
After that busy 48hrs it's a nice relaxing48hrs at work! LOL :)
Happy Weekend Everyone! October 17 Baggy Green Boys!!Connor and Sam had their first night of cricket training last night.
The boys have been looking forward to it for over a term - we had it all worked out. Con would miss ballet (he has 2 ballet lessons a week - one would do for the 10weeks the cricket was on) of a Thursday and Dad would take him to cricket. It was all sorted...
until.....
Con scored the lead role in the ballet for the concert....
...what are they doing for their Thurday ballet lesson - the concert dance. Wednesday ballet lesson is concentrating on exam work (exam next Monday).
"OH NO" said I, when we discovered it. What was I going to do?? I didnt want him to miss cricket - he was too looking forward to it, I didnt want to make him go to ballet - and for him to start to resent his dancing when he does love it - but how could he let the group at dancing down...
I then found out that cricket is not 'games' of cricket as such, but ball skills etc. So he wouldn't be letting a team down there.
I also found out that Miss Diana was taking the ballet, and she is just so beautiful, and so easy to talk to.
So, what we are going to do is, he will do cricket every 3 weeks or so, depending on what is happening at ballet. If they start doing the concert dance on the Wednesday ballet lesson then he can go to cricket on the THursday for that week.
I spoke to Miss Diana at dancing and explained that it was a difficult juggle and how it had already been promised to him before we found out about the clash. She was beautiful about it and said she totally understood and that being a boy we had to be careful to get a good balancing act re the danicng and sport.
So, last night he went to cricket (I figured ballet would just be rehashing the dance from last term, and it was)
He had a BALL!!! Sal said he didnt stand still for a moment.. Dad said he was off doing handstands when he got bored!! I dressed Con in red so that Dad could find him on the field with hundreds of kids!! I also put his 'baggy green cap' on him!! Gotta get into the mood after all!
He and Sam were the bestest of god-brothers!!!! They got their special 'milo bag' at the end of the day. It included a shirt, a hat, a bat and ball, an activity pad and a packet of milo. Pretty darn good considering the 10week course is only costing $45!!!
Here are some photos Sally sent me (thankyou Sal!!)
Sam looks like a GIANT next to Connor!! For those that don't know -there is only 3 months difference in age!!!
October 16 This explains a little of the money crisis atmThis actually DOES make sense to me.... but it would take me replaying it a dozen times for me to be able to repeat it!
October 15 Camera woes
My camera is stuffed. It just won't turn on-with brand new batteries in it. No drama thought I, its still under warrenty.cept I can't find receipt anywhere..however I have found the statement online so am hoping that will do when I return it to the shop next week. Stay tuned..... October 14 Im so excited! I've got a mission!! Several actually!Well actually I have a few missions - a major one being the de-clutter and organisation of this pigsty of a house. That has very slowly started. I have been RUTHLESSLY culling the children's clothes. It hurts and is very sad to do it - BUT THEY WEAR HARDLY ANY OF IT and I truly knew it was time when CJ went to put away Darcy's clothes and she came back to say 'Mummy, the drawers won't close and I haven't put any of these ones in yet....'
So - we are in the process of a) culling clothes b) re-painting Con's room, he told me he wants a space and dinosaur room - hmmmm c) re-organising downtstairs and moving tv etc into the built in d) bringing Casey's bed down to our place and painting the wall down in the rumpus room, putting cjs bed there and her other furniture e) asking Stefan to come over and please build us a wall so CJ has a new room!! f) re-organising CJs old room so it's Darcy's princess ballerina room - that is last because there's not much to be done for it!!
As well as all of this (and the time frame for it is now till xmas and beyond!). I want to ask Stef about whether he thinks this archway between our lounge and dining room can be knocked out so we can just have it as one full room - and if it can - is he allowed (and able!) to do it!
Mark and Dad have a plan to do the back yard and pool over the next few months - so that it's ready for summer
Another ask of Stef is regarding re-roofing the garage with nice light sheets not the asbestos that is there now.
As you can see Mandy's Stefan is going to be my saviour! LOL Plus darling Sal has told me she will come over and help me be ruthless, Leanne has mentioned many times she will come and help me de-clutter. Mandy T said today that she will help me and I can help her lol! And Peetie is coming over next weekend or weekend after to paint Con's and CJs walls with me.... And - my newest mission, hence the reason that I wanted to write this blog is the following....
Whilst doing the kids clothes/room today I found my travel diary from Scotland 2002. I flicked through it and became enraptured with the memories. I thought to myself 'this is just like reading my blog. I should blog this.' I then thought 'Oh - I could do it and put a date a day ' - but then it's not all together. Plus, I also have here my trip book from when I lived over there, plus the one from the next year, my one from Indonesia and Las Vegas too.
So, I am going to start a word document and transcribe the entries. Then, when I have a decent amount done I will try and find a blogsite or something that I can link to this one and put it in the side bar so people can go and read about the trips... The one I was reading today was talking about how Mark played golf here and Case danced there and Con woke me up at 2am for a feed and CJ got her new ballerina pjs- ballerina pjs that I put on the 'keep' pile for Dee tonight! October 13 Dad is footy champion-sorta-tied with a girl!
Dad & my cousins wife, Karen tied for first place in the Garrards Gold Footy Tipping contest!
We all had a get 2gether & BBQ on Sunday to watch the game (yawn) & hear the winners.
They each won $175! Nae bad I reckon!
Here they are with their shield! My Uncle Paul with his 'wooden spoon award' Plus a photo of Connor with his cousins and a turtle!

October 12 Funny names and scary storiesFirstly - I am sitting at the airport catching up on my blogging. It's 7.35 and my flight is supposed to leave soon but it's been delayed - GREAT - GRRRR. And there is someone who is being paged who is called 'Mervin Herman'. Now honestly - is that REALLY someone's name?? Same as the other day it was something like 'Qantas are paging Mr William Gotcha' OMG - I think these people deliberatly go late so their funny names can get called out!!
Secondly, I heard a terrible story at dinner last night, and it has really shaken me up. The judge from Victoria was telling me that this family that she is friends with just had a terrible thing happen to them. They have 3 boys, an 11 year old, 8 yera old and 6 year old. In the holidays just finished they went camping. The parents were putting up the tent and the boys were bugging them and wanting to go and play and they were saying 'no, but you can go up to the tv room together.' 15mins later the mum went up to check on them and only the 2 older ones were there. She asked where the younger brother was and the 11 yera old said 'He said he was going back to you.' He never made it...... Half an hour later he was found - alive thankgod - but in the bushes and still being raped by an animal in his 20s. The couple who found him (the whole caravan park were searching for him) were, obviously, very shaken up. The wife said that if she hadn't been with her husband then he would have probably killed the man....
The little boy is still coming out with things that he is remembering happened. And the two older brothers, especially the 11 year old, are not in a good way either. As mum (and I) always say to the kids 'IT ONLY TAKES ONE SECOND FOR A BAD MAN TO GET YOU'.
I had a freak out at the airport in August when we were taking Daniel back. Casey had gone to the toilet and took the kids with her. She let Connor go into the boys on his own. I came over a few minutes later and Case was out and I said 'Where's connor' She said ;' in the boys'. I absolutley freaked. Thankfully all was ok.... Ok - runing out of internet time - xoxo |
