    My Daddy Says Funny Words

Today at the hospital visiting mum were were talking about our trips to Scotland and Dad was trying to remember the name of Urquart Castle.

He said 'You know, the one where the recabites lived?

    The what dad?

    The recabites?

You wouldn't mean the Jacobites by any chance? You know the ones that fought with Bonny Prince Charlie?

Ahhh yeah - that'd be them!!

All the way home I kept giggling about these 'recabites' I thought it was a made up word and kept imagining these scotsman coming into castles and 'wrecking them'!

But then dad said 'no, my dad used to use the word recabite sometimes, I dont know what it means though.

Well I googled it - no luck with that spelling. But Dictionary.com told me this....

    Rechabite

\Re"chab*ite\, n. (Jewish Hist.) One of the descendants of Jonadab, the son of Rechab, all of whom by his injunction abstained from the use of intoxicating drinks and even from planting the vine. Jer. xxxv. 2-19. Also, in modern times, a member of a certain society of abstainers from alcoholic liquors.

So dad - definately NOT the same as the Jacobites! Can't see them abstaining! Reckon drinking alchol is all they did drink!

My mum is currently in the Burns Unit at Royal North Shore Hospital after suffering sever burns to 25% of her body after the oil caught on fire over her stove and she wasn't able to put it all out so ended up throwing water on top of it.

    DONT DO THAT

Connor was soooo excited because DanMan sent him dinosaurs!! Ceilidh was sooooo excited because Casey sent her 5euro!! She has put it in a 'safe place'

Ceilidh was impressed because Dan wrote the letter 'in Australian' to Connor! LOL!

She was so excited that first she ran Poppa and read them both out, and then she rang Nanna at Nanna Josephine's and read them out again!!

But guys, please date your letters!! Ceilidh went and got her 'letter box' and was reading through all the letters she has received from KC for the last 2 years and none of them have any dates on them!!

    Anyway....
thankyou very much Case and Daniel ! It made their day!!!!!

    Our Beach House Holiday

When we were little and the beach house was owned by my Aunty - it was never called 'the beach house' it was always called Calalla.

Now that the kids are here, and my Uncle owns the same house, it is never called Calalla (by us anyway!) but always 'the beach house'! lol

Well, I have posted 156 photos of our 'beach house holiday' Thanks to Sal I have changed the date to 2006 as I had written 2005 -0pps. You can't miss the pix cause I've made them the first thing you see on the homepage! LOL!

I will, when I have more time, go into them and image host some of the better ones and stick em here. That way, when I get sick of looking at the photos so big and make it a different kind of screen again, then people can see the pix instead of tiny thumbnails.

Well I have to go to bed. Early morning again tomorrow. Day 2 of the RGDANCE summer school for CJ. She loved today's. Talked about it the whole way home - which for her is a big thing. Usually getting info from her is like pulling teeth.

Oh - we went and saw NannY McPhee after Summer School (Cause Mark had the two young ones up at his brothers for Cousin Brittany's 2nd birthday) So CJ and I had a girls day at the movies. Great movie (helps that Colin Firth is in it! LOL)

    It is truly sad when

your husband weighs himself on the set of scales at the beach house and says 'Ohhwahhh, I really have to go on a diet, I have put on weight!'

And you know it is true because the tummy is getting a little wider as each year goes by.... and the love handles are getting bigger...

    So you say to him

"Really? How much do you weigh?"

    And he replies.....

    "68kg"

OMG!! One of my bloody LEGS weighs 68kgs Im sure of it!!!

    So I say

    PFFFTTTTTTTTTHHHHHHSSSSSS

to him, my big FAT man!!!! lol

As most people who read my blog know... Im a 'bit' obsessed with Mr Darcy from Pride & Prejudice. So much so that when I was 16 & read it 4 the 1st time I decided i would call my child Darcy, & 16 years later,I did! Well 2nite was just wonderful! I FINALLY saw the interview that Bridget Jones did with Colin Firth about his P&P Mr Darcy. IT HAS MADE MY NIGHT! I had read it in Edge Of Reason, but 2 actually see it done..... FUNNY FUNNY FUNNY!

    Safe in the Harbour
    (Eric Bogle)

Have you stood by the ocean, on a diamond-hard morning
And felt the hor-izon stir deep in your soul
Watched the wake of a steamer as it cut through blue water
And been gripped by a fever you just can't control

Oh to throw off the shackles and fly with the seagulls
To where green waves tumble before a driving sea wind
Or to lie on the decking on a warm summer's evening
Watch the red sun fall burning, be-neath the earth's rim

cho: But to every sailor, comes time to drop anchor
Haul in the sails, and make the lines fast
You deep water dreamer, your journey is over
You're safe in the harbour at last
You're safe in the harbour at last

Some men are sailors, but most are just dreamers
Held fast by the anchors they forge in their minds
Who in ther hearts know they'll never sail over deep water
To search for a treasure they're afraid they won't find

So in sheltered harbours, they cling to their anchors
Bank down their boilers and shut down their steam
And wait for the sailors to re-turn with bright treasures
That will fan the dull embers and fire up their dreams

But to every sailor, comes time to drop anchor
Haul in the sails, and make the lines fast
You deep water dreamer, your journey is over
You're safe in the harbour at last
You're safe in the harbour at last

And some men are schemers who laugh at the dreamers
Take the gold from the sailors and turn it to dross
They're men in a prison, they're men without vision
Whose only horizon is profit and loss

So when storm clouds come sailing a-cross your blue ocean
Hold fast to your dreaming for all that your're worth
For as long as there's dreamers, there will always be sailors
Bringing back their bright treasures from the corners of earth

    What Can Missy Dee Say.....

Well, Darcy is now 16 months old - CAN U BELIEVE IT!!!! Shocking isn't it! Where has the time gone!

She has been talking 'Darcy Talk' for a few months and we have no idea what she is going on about, although it is definately something! She gets quite indignant when we don't understand her!

Well, recently the  somethings  have become clearer to understand.

    She definately says:

    Mumma
    Dadda
    Connor (nonnor)
    Ceilidh (ae-er)
    Nanna
    Poppa
Chewy (ew-ar) sounds alot like Ceilidh actually - only really difference is that she is pointing to the dog!
    Ball (boor)
    Dorothy (orree)
    Wiggles (eeerllls)
    Bye Bye
    Bird (err)
    Pool (poooooo)
    Bath (baaa)
    Boat (booaa)
    Dummy (numnum)
    Bottle (boteer)
    Look (ook)
    There it is (eerr is)
    Open it (oen id)
    Ta
    Book (bou)
    Want that (unt ad)
    Ni Ni
    Car
    Blues Clues (oohhh ewwws)
    Up
    No!
    Yes (ess)
Dinosaur (i-orrrr) Yes, poor thing, she knows this word, thanks to big brother!
    Banana (nana)
    Grapes (ape)
    Apple (ppl)
    cat (kaa)
Sore (orrr) She knows this one thanks to the burnt feet episode last month!
    Sit down (it owen!)

When you ask her what a tiger says,
    She says 'rahhh'
Ask her what a dinosaur says,
    She says 'rahhh'
Ask her what a duck says.....
    She says 'rahhh'
Hmmm - another influential piece from her 3 year old brother!

That's all I can think of at the moment. She no doubt says trillions more (ok, maybe not trillions, she's not like Ceilidh was at 16 months - who could tell us colours and shapes!)  But at least she says more than Connor did - he only grunted at you!  Then ran at you at a flying pace, leapt up on you and hugged you to death! And he still does - the leaping and hugging part - not the grunting! They're real words now! The grunting will come back when he turns 13 I guess!

    A Blonde's Cookbook!

    A Blonde's Cookbook

Monday: It's fun to cook for  Ron . Today I made an angel food cake. The
recipe said to beat 12 eggs separately. The neighbors were nice enough to lend me
    some extra bowls.

Tuesday:  Ron wanted fruit salad. The recipe said to serve without dressing,
so I didn't dress. What a surprise when  Ron  brought a friend home for supper.

Wednesday: A good day for rice. The recipe said to wash thoroughly before
steaming the rice. It seemed kind of silly, but I took a bath anyway. I
can't say it helped the rice any.

Thursday: Today  Ron  asked for a salad again. I tried a new recipe that
said to prepare the ingredients and lay on a bed of lettuce an hour before serving.
Ron asked me why I was rolling around in the garden.

Friday: I found an easy recipe for cookies. It said put the ingredients in a
bowl and beat it. There must have been something wrong with this recipe.
When I got back, everything was the same as when I left it.

Saturday:  Ron  did the shopping today and brought home a chicken and asked
me to dress it for Sunday. (Oh boy)! For some reason  Ron  keeps counting to
    ten.

Sunday:  Ron 's folks came to dinner.  I wanted to serve roast, but all I had
was hamburger. Suddenly I had a flash of genius. I put the hamburger in the oven
and set the controls for roast. It still came out hamburger, much to my
    disappointment.

Goodnight Dear Diary: This has been a very exciting week. I am eager for
tomorrow to come so I can try out a new recipe for  Ron . If I can talk  Ron
into buying me a larger oven, I am going to surprise him with a chocolate
    moose.
